A single pack from the Japanese Base Set. Pocket Monsters Card Game Expansion Pack (拡張パック) is the first Pokémon TCG expansion ever released, published by Media Factory in Japan on October 20, 1996, two years before the English Base Set. 10 cards a pack, 291 yen at retail. The 102-card set introduced Charizard, Blastoise and Venusaur.

    This is the Japanese Base Set. "Expansion Pack" (拡張パック) was not a set name but the product type: the boosters that expanded the Starter Pack deck sold alongside it. The first set never got a title; every set after it did.

    Released in Japan on October 20, 1996, more than two years before the English Base Set (January 9, 1999). The 102-card set is the same card list, so the English Base Set is the reprint, not the other way round.
